What light in yonder forest falls
(sorry shake, had to get a start)
Sunrays beckoning night should befall,
Not wanting to leave but fight it off
Sinks into the waiting ground,
Being engulfed without a sound.
Now darkness upon us, not a star in sight,
I get a chill and a little fright
So spooky it is this time of year,
Hair stands up trying to hear.
Why oh why did I stay so late?
Knowing and hating my scary fate.
Now going through the woods at night,
Could give anyone a fright,
But I must be brave as my horse is,
And keep on going and thinking of Liz.
Thoughts of her will get me through
And I'll be safe, when day is new.
Now in the middle, there's no turning back,
Think I will have a heat attack,
My steady steed is taking it well
Brave that she is, my bluebell.
Now giddy-up go, I don't like it here,
It is starting to snow, oh dear oh dear,
Feel a chill run up my back,
from a sound heard,
Are they going to attack.
A little faster my steady steed,
Of course you know what I need.
Being the horseman that I am
Just need to go and get out of this land.
A story is told of the one to dread,
If you are not careful he will take your head.
Oh thank goodness I can see the town,
Glad I am, I didn't turn around.
Can breathe easier I feel,
But you never know, another chill.
Now giddy-up horsy, lets go faster,
Please oh please listen to your master.
I hear a sound now getting closer,
Ok Bluebell faster, faster.
Almost to the edge of town,
Keep on trotting, don't look around.
Then all of a sudden there he is,
Bigger than life in the mist
He got in front of us how oh how,
Bluebell tell me what now, what now?
Then as mysteriously as he appeared
He turned into town, and disappeared.
Now I never told anyone of that night
Just laugh at me they might.
But Bluebell and I know what we saw
The headless horseman from Choctaw.
