With the ever broadening selection of hair products available to us on the market growing each day, selecting the right products for your hair can be difficult. Looking for a quick way to determine which hair care products might work well for your hair type? Read on to find out what you need to know about product selection for your hair type!

In order to determine the products that work best for you, you'll need to consider the following things: Has your hair been damaged by chemical treatments like coloring, perming or relaxing? Is your hair thin, thick or medium density? Is your hair curly, oily, dry or normal? Once you answer these questions, you'll have a better idea of which products will work best for you.

Hair that has been damaged by chemical treatments will need more moisture-rich products with plenty of oils and emollients to condition the cuticle. This hair type will also need considerable protein reconstructing to control porosity issues. Fine hair will need lighter, cleaner rinsing formulas than medium or thick hair. Dry hair will require more oils and humectants in the formulas than oily hair, which should never come into contact with oil-rich, creamy products.

Pantene's Product Finder Tool
There could be many other factors affecting the condition of your hair, like your ethnicity or other past treatments. Still confused? Then look no further than Pantene's Product Finder Tool. Pantene has simplified the search and designed this online service to help you determine the best Pantene products for you, all based on your specific hair type and desired hair results. I pretty much knew what my Pantene hair solution would be before trying the tool, and after playing around with the tool for a bit, I confirmed what I knew! With only 8 questions separating me from my solution (Relaxed and Natural/Medium-Thick Solutions), I found the tool quite easy to use!

When you use the product finder, the first question you'll be asked is whether your hair is color-treated or not. Other questions include how curly your hair is, how thick your hair is, a description of your hair before styling, your ethnicity, the style you are trying to achieve, the one issue holding you back from achieving your ideal style and finally the ultimate hair benefit you are after. These questions help the Pantene product tool determine whether or not your hair needs extra protein, heavy or light conditioners, special cuticle care or deep cleansing as priorities in your customized solution.

Once you've completed the product finder tool, you'll be presented with the Pantene products that best suit your hair based on your personal collection of answers. If the answers to your questions are more of a hodgepodge, then your customized solution might contain products from various collections to meet your needs. This is simply because no single collection will fit every single person!

New Pantene Pro-V Customized Solutions Lines

The new Pantene Pro-V Color Hair Solutions line contains fatty lipids that support the cuticle and build a protective outer layer on each strand of color-treated hair.

The Fine Hair Solutions line deposits proteins along the hair shaft and rinses cleanly to give the appearance of thicker individual strands.

The Medium-Thick Hair Solutions line is designed to minimize frizz and make locks glossy and smooth.

The Curly Hair Series contains a more sophisticated "guar substance," which is an ingredient that Pantene researchers say cushions and protects the hair.
