Getting Published Using CafePress

Ranee Wright
Did you know you can easily create and sell your own book on Cafepress.com? Cafepress will help you through the self publishing process with their easy to follow instructions. They also have great advice on marketing techniques. Open a store at Cafepress and create merchandise related to your self published book!

Self publish and sell books, manuals and more!
If you want to publish a training manual or even your genealogy; Cafepress allows you to self publish to the public as well as something you don't want sold in bookstores. There is no upfront cost or investment in any inventory, including books! If you sell 0 books or merchandise you pay $0; so you've got nothing to lose.

I have used Cafepress to create merchandise and made a nice paycheck during the 2008 elections. My seller ID is bfly76. Hopefully, I'll have a book to self publish sooner than later!

Publish and Sell with Cafepress
You set your own selling price. Cafepress offers 3 types of book binding types. As of today, flat binding fee and price per page (which equal Base Price) are as follows:

Saddle stitch $.045 per page + flat binding fee of $4
Wire-O $.045 per page + flat binding fee of $5
Perfect Bound $.03 per page + flat binding fee of $7

Example to figure your profit:
Base Price = $10.00, Selling Price = $14.00, Your Profit = $4.00

Acceptable file formats:
You will submit your book in PDF format, to fit book size. Your book cover should be JPG or PNG format, although a few other formats are accepted but not as recommended. Cafepress provides great instructions on uploading your text and images.

Marketing Tips for Free
Cafepress allows you to control the marketing of your self published book. Use the newsletter function to let your organization, friends, and family know when your book is published. Take advantage of targeted keywords for search engine optimization (SEO) to drive traffic to your store. If you already have a Web site, you can align your CafePress shop with your site and drive traffic to both.
