How to Sell

Robb Weigel
Selling is the backbone of the American economy--it is the very essence of what makes us capitalists. However, in order to be an effective salesman and earn your commission, you need to learn how to sell effectively.

Step 1) Always be honest. Nothing is more disgusting to an average American than a dishonest salesman. Just think of the image that pops in your mind with used car salesman. It's not a pretty picture is it? Always be direct, honest, and forthright when you are selling products no matter what it is. Even if you don't make the sale (which many times you won't) at least the consumer will appreciate you and respect you.

Step 2) Learn the ABC's of sales--Always Be Closing. You have a job to do so do it right--the worst thing you can do is talk too much; sometimes you can actually talk your way out of a sale. This is not good. Good salesmen are great listeners who ask the right questions guiding their consumers to the right product.

Step 3) Make good sales presentations. You have to look professional and not like an amatuer when you are trying to pitch a $20,000 construction job for example. Look the part. First impressions, looks, and appearance matter so play the game.

This is sound advice on how to be a reliable honest salesperson. For more information on small business, check out another of my free articles and one of my online books on small business, Here are the links:
