Decide what your company has to offer. Each company is different and the products and companies that you can sell advertising space to vary with each entity. For example, if you are a restaurant or food store, you can negotiate a deal with Coca Cola or Pepsi for a soda vending machine so that they can advertise their company. In such a deal, the soda company pays you to have their vending machine in your store and the soda company keeps the profits they make from selling soda.
If you are a non profit sports organization, there are a myriad of fundraising opportunities through advertising. The outfield fences can have the name of sponsorships. The bases can have the logos of a company. The back of player uniforms can also have an advertisement or a company's name on the back if they give you money to purchase uniforms. The Scoreboard which generally costs a lot of money can have the name of a company on it if they pay for it and you can hang it high in the outfield to keep track of the score and stats in the game.
When you are looking to sell advertisement space, look no further than your own community. Many local stores see local stores and organizations as a perfect method of advertising and a worthwhile investment. For non profit organizations that involve children, the sponsorship of a team or club will make people buy products from that store because people will see that the business is interested in helping out the community financially.
Most companies and people that try and sell advertising space generally have to make a pitch to a company to get funding. Businesses that advertise are looking to invest their money wisely and you will have to prove to them that your company and service is a worthwhile investment. If you are in a start-up business, prove to the company that your own business will reach almost everyone in the community because you provide a rare and valuable service that not many other people and businesses can provide. Many times the advertising done between two businesses or people is mutual. By each company investing in each other, profits are shared as they are increased at the same time which benefits everybody.
