How to Sell Your Comic Books

If you have decided to sell your comic books, there are many options to look into to get the best value for your comic book collection. There are a few different places you can sell your comic books, but a little research can help you find the best profith.

First, you need to determine the condition of your comic books, which is called grading. This will categorize the comics for a certain price range. For comic books, the grading scale is as follows: Mint, Near Mint, Very Fine, Fine, Very Good, Good and Poor. Grade your books conservatively. This makes sure you do not grade something too high as this would lower your the price you would get for the book or damage your seller status. Deeper explanations of the grading categories can be found online or by purchasing a comic book price guide.

Look them up in the Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide. If you are planning on selling a large number of books - in the hundreds or thousands - having a price guide to refer to is a good idea. This will give you the suggested market price of your book in various grades so a fair amount can be determined.

Look up the book on eBay. If you are selling a few books, look up each on eBay to get an idea of what people are actually paying for the books. If you have a large quantity of books to sell, you may want to look up key issues to gain a good barometer on the value of your comic book collection. If you choose to sell the books on eBay, be sure to form a listing strategy. For large collections to sell, it will get expensive to list every book individually. Some groups of books - especially those published from the 80s to the current period -may sell better as full runs (complete series), or grouped with other similar issues. For older books (1970s and earlier), individual listings are the best plan. Keep in mind listing fees and shipping - media mail is usually the best value for comic book mailing. Also, if eBay is not your online choice for comic books, you can also sell your books on Craigslist.

Call your local comic shop owner. Sometimes you can get a good price from your local comic shop owner. Just give them a call or drop by to find out if they are purchasing comic books and, if so, share with them your list of books to sell and their condition. In-demand books can fetch a good price if the store owner knows he can move the book(s) quickly.

These are the most profitable methods for selling your comic books. Remember, if you put some work into categorizing and grading your books before attempting to sell, buyers will be more informed and your comic books will sell more quickly.
