It is usually better to sell your RV camper, rather than trading it in on another one. Dealers will offer you a trade price, but you can get much more if you sell it yourself. You will need to check the resale value from the Kelly Blue Book. Then, do an honest appraisal of the condition of the rig, taking into account wear and tear, along with any options that could add value.
Once you have decided on your asking price, you should clean up the RV and do any basic maintenance it needs. You want it to be obvious that you have taken good care of your camper when prospective buyers are looking at it.
Clean the RV thoroughly. This means inside and out. Clean the windows. If there is carpet, have it cleaned or rent a steam cleaner.
Take out all of your personal belongings. Do not leave anything in the closets, cabinets, or drawers. If the spaces are empty, they will give the appearance of spaciousness and abundant storage. Be sure to also clean out the refrigerator and add a deodorizer to remove any lingering odors.
Clean out all holding tanks. This is especially important for the black water tank. Add chemicals to the toilet to prevent or get rid of odors.
If there are any cosmetic repairs that need to be done, get them done before you have people looking at your RV. Tighten bolts and hinges. If there are any squeaks, be sure to oil them properly.
Make copies of any maintenance records you have kept. Buyers will want to know how well the camper has been maintained. And, be sure there is enough fuel, water in the radiator, and juice in the batteries to give everything a test drive when the prospective buyers are checking out your camper.
There are many ways to sell a used RV camper. You can put an add in a newspaper or magazine. There are several sites on the internet that will let you list items for sale without a fee. Be sure you list the price. This will discourage calls from buyers who are not able to pay for the camper. You might also find a used RV seller who will sell your camper for a commission. Just be sure you keep up the insurance on your camper until you sell it. You do not want someone to be trying out your RV and have an accident if the camper is not insured.
When you sell your RV camper, you want to get the best price possible. Hopefully, these tips will help you sell your RV and get the amount of money you need.
