How to Set Up Your Free Money Making Website

Free Hosting, Free Domain, Set it Up and Start Making Money!

Nikki Freeman
I recently wrote two reviews/advice on ways to get a FREE domain name:

Free Domain Name

And, how to get free web hosting without adverts (advertisements)

Free Web Hosting Without Adverts

Now, I wanted to help all my readers and give them an informative "How To" utilize both of these resources and create their FREE Website with their own URL and Completely set it up without knowing HTML, web design, or web programming.

Ready?

First, you will have to get your free Web hosting account with 5G. No strings, not credit card, no nothing and best of all, No Advertisements on your site! Check out the article above if you need more background info. Here's the website to do that at:
http://www.5gbfree.com

If you haven't signed up for Domain Lagoon, or have signed up and just didn't complete enough offers yet to get your free domain, that's ok, you can add your personal domain later. 5gbfree.com gives you a free sub domain to work with. If you do plan on making money from your website though, you should get a customized URL to help search engines find you and make it more professional.

On to the good stuff:

Once you've logged into your 5FBFree.com account, you will view your control panel by default. You'll your URL in the top right, looking something like.

yoursitename.5gbfree.com

On the left you'll see some options:
File Manager, SQL database, PHP, support tickets, application inst....Wait, stop there!

That's what you need to click on. Click on "Application Installer"

You'll see all these options with radio buttons to the left of them, basically, you get to choose one:

NOTE: In order to create your site using Joomla, Mamba, DotNetNuke, you will have to first click on the "MySQL Database" link in your 5GB user area, and create a database, user name, password and associate the two. It's simple, just click on the link and instructions are given. You DO NOT need this for word press, bblog or the other blog options here.

If you have no idea what's going on, and haven't heard of most of these software programs, I hope you've at least heard of "Wordpress." Using Wordpress as an example, what you do is get the entire wordpress blogging program, set up on your site, with you as the administrator just like any other blog! The only web design, programming knowledge you need is NADA. You simply will have to know your way around a blog situation similar to blogger.com. Wordpress is a lot the same, but gives you some more options.

You will have to make a decision based on what you know, don't know or plan on learning about these software programs. Personally, I LOVE Joomla! But, it's difficult to configure unless you have some programming knowledge. If you want to learn about Joomla, you can visit my blog completely dedicated to it :) www.joomlacms-story.blogspot.com

Anyway, if you are completely lost, just choose wordpress and you'll get your own blog. If you want to do more research on these software packages (which are all FREE) you can by visiting

www.opensourcecms.com

Once decided, pick one and ONLY enter a forward slash in the directory box at the top. Type in

/

Click, ok, and you're off!

Mrs Nikki, I am very ignorent when it comes to computers but need to have a web page for my ministry. Some have said I just need a blog, or forum. I don't know the difference. I need something that possible donors would go to for information. What is your thoughts? Thanks Shelley

I'm updating this entry, when I wrote it the free 5GB was advert free, now they've made it so their are adverts and they are also very overwhelming to the website. But, they do offer a one time fee upgrade of $10, which is incredible considering you would pay that per month for most hosting. Anyway, I'm sorry, these things change and it's out of my hands once the article is posted! Good Luck
