A Wi-Fi Printer is Not Needed for a Wireless Printer Setup

How can I setup my USB printer to share through a wireless connection? That is a question that many people have. If you want to setup your printer to share through a wireless connection then you actually already have all the hardware that you need to get the job done.

You don't need a USB Wi-Fi printer to setup a printer to have a wireless signal. That can boggle your mind, and it's certain that you want to know why and how this is done with a USB Wi-Fi printer. All you need for this project is a printer, a computer running Windows 7, and a wireless router.

The magic key to this wireless printer network is the Windows 7 Homegroup feature. This allows you to share a printer on your Windows 7 Homegroup. Since your Windows 7 Homegroup is shared through your wireless router, you will be able to print from any laptop or desktop that is wireless connected to your wireless router. If a friend rides past your home and knows your password then he or she will also be able to print documents without even entering your home.

To get started, just go to the control panel from the start menu. In the control panel, you will find the option labeled "Homegroups." If you don't see it then you will need to change the view settings in the upper right hand corner of the control panel to "large icons." If you follow the instructions on the screen then you will be able to create a Windows 7 network with Homegroups that will allow any printer connected to the computer to be shared wirelessly throughout your house. You will have to know the password to use the USB wireless printer setup, and you will have to have the internet connections on the other computers set to home. That is a way of telling the wireless desktops and laptops that they can trust the connection. This allows you to share everything that is on whichever desktop or laptop in the house since the connection works both ways. You will be able to use any printer in the house that is connected to a computer and is shared.
