When operating your computer, you may meet many processes that take a lot of time. For instance, scanning virus, defragment, ripping DVD, download big files... can cost you more than half an hour.

Apparently, you do not have patient to wait for these processes. However, you can save these works for last and let your computer shut down automatically after all processes are done. You can let your computer to shut down itself by going to "Power Management" in Control Panel.

Besides, you can also install a software to help you manage the exact time to shut down your computer. I recommend you to use TurnOff Master because it is a free program. Turnoff Master's main function is to shut down, log off, hibernate or restart your computer after a set-up time. You can download this program here.

After downloading, you only have to uncompress the zipped folder and then run TurnOffMaster.exe to activate Turnoff Master (This program does not need to be installed). In the first time, a intro windows will appear. Click OK to skip. Next, on the left bottom side, you will see the line "Windows is running for..." indicate how long you have turned on Windows.

To set up a shutdown schedule, click the red link "No schedule is set. Double-click here to set one". Then, choose Time tab in appeared Windows. You have to pick how you want to turn off your computer. You can turn off your computer after duration of time, at certain time or after an application is closed. Notice that in "When a program terminates" section, you can only put in running application. In Action tab, pick what process you want your computer to do, shut down, log off, reboot or hibernate. Click OK after setting up everything.

After a minute, a window will appear indicate when you want to turn off your computer. Click "Abort" if you find any problem or you want to cancel the task. You can also go to Options in the program's menu and mark "Force Shutdown". This feature will shut down your computer in any situation. However, I recommend you not to use force shutdown when you are working with system file or saving process because it may damage your system or you would lose your unsaved information.

With only about 445 KB of system resource, Turnoff Master is compatible with all versions of Windows. You do not have to wait for your computer's defragment or copying a DVD anymore. All you need to do is setting up Turnoff Master to shut down your computer automatically after the work is done.
