How to Sign Up for a Facebook Page

Tara Cellars
There are many social networking sites on the web now. The two main ones are MySpace and Facebook. They are both a great way to connect to friends and family members. They are both free and fairly easy to use. Facebook is a little simpler than MySpace in the aspect that there are no overly complicated ways to set up your profile. If you are looking to set up a free profile for Facebook, please click here. Once you click the link you will be taken to the Facebook homepage. If you look to the left you will see that you can start entering basic information to start the sign up process.

You will need to enter your name, email address, a password of your choice, your gender, and birthday. You will then click the sign up button. Once you click sign up you will need to enter the words in the security check box. They do this, so they can make sure that you are human. You will then click a sign up button again. You will then be taken to a page where you can search the contacts in your email address for friends. You will enter in your password to your email account and then click the find friends button. You can also skip this step if you would like. Next you will be asked to enter in the high school, and college you attended, and also the company you work for. You will then click save and continue. You will then be taken to a place where you can join a network. This is where you will enter in a city that is close to you or the one you live in. This will need to be a major city. Once you enter it you will be able to choose which network you want added to. You will then click join.

After you do all this you will be brought to your home page where you can add more friends, or even edit your profile. You will need to confirm your Facebook page too. To do so, you will just log in to the email account that you used to sign up with. Click on the confirmation link and you will be taken to your home page and it will say that you have successfully confirmed your account. IF you click on the view and edit your profile link there is a lot more that you can do to your profile. You can enter in your hometown, relationship status, what you are interested in and looking for, and your views on politics and religion. If you do so you will then need to click save changes. Once you click that your basic information is saved and you can then enter in your personal information, which includes activities, interests, music, movies, books, questions, and whatever you want people to know about you. You can then click save, you will then be taken to contact information. You can enter instant messenger screen names, phone numbers, address, and websites. When you click save changes you will be taken to Education and Work history. You can add your schools, the years you graduated or attended, and jobs. You can also add a profile picture by clicking on the picture in the left hand corner. You can upload a photo on your computer easily.

After you do all of this you are ready to go. You can easily search for friends and family member. You can keep in touch with them for free. Check out Facebook and see what you think.
