How to Sing like Miley Cyrus

Chrisdavy
Miley Cyrus is one of the most famous young singers out today, and many of you want to know how to sing like her. Her distinctive Southern drawl, country mannerisms, and pop sensibilities have sold millions of records. Who's to say you can't, too? Here's the how-to on how to strengthen your voice to hit the high notes.

Things You'll Need:

  • An hour a day to practice
  • A piano
  • A famous singer daddy (I kid, I kid)

WARM UP. Your vocal chords are muscles that can be strengthened just like any other muscle. You know what exercises vocal chords the most? Vowels! Sing vowels. Google "singing warmup," or put it in on Youtube. There are plenty of videos to follow. Sing from your gut, using your lips to shape the sound. Over extend your gut, throat, and lips. Remember, this is warm ups. You're not trying to look pretty; you're trying to stretch and exercise your vocal muscles.

PITCH CONTROL. Now that you're warmed up, take your favorite Miley Cyrus or Taylor Swift song and sing the melody. The melody is the main notes that the singer is singing. Practice just hitting the main note that they are singing. If they go into a riff that's too difficult, don't try to follow them just yet. You will be able to do that soon. Just hit the basic notes and try to project. Don't use your nose or be whiny to hit the note like many singers do today. Recording studios have plenty of gadgets and Autotune to fix weak singing (T-Pain!), but you're not going for that. You want a strong voice like Miley or Taylor!

PERFORM!! Many great singers, some of my friends included, are too shy to perform! Trust me, if you just get out there, even if you suck the first time, you'll get better because you will HAVE to. Your friends will be nice to you the first couple of times, but if you don't get better quick, they'll quickly start treating you like a big l.o.s.e.r. If that's not motivation, I don't know what is! One cool trick is to do karaoke. You can pretend like you're just having fun when you're actually practicing. If you mess up, everyone will just think you're kidding around. You can do that until people start noticing that you are actually singing well, and it will give you confidence for your big debut album coming out in six months. Right? Right!! I'll be the first one to buy it, LOL...just make sure you put chrisdavy in the credits as your number one inspiration!!

"Don't use your nose or be whiny to hit the note like many singers do today."

How are you gonna sound like Miley Cyrus then? It's straight out of her nose.

"You want a strong voice like Miley or Taylor!"

Taylor Swift's voice is about as shakey-dog as i've ever heard. Most definitely not "strong".

"Recording studios have plenty of gadgets and Autotune to fix weak singing".

Wow..that's everything that's wrong with music today.
