How to Make Skinny Jeans from Old Pants

Why Don't You Fix Your Old Jeans and Make Them Skinny?

Yoly
It's that time of the year again. For most children, school is almost starting, and that means spending money on

supplies and new clothes. We parents are always on a tight budged and now more than ever we can use a little help.

Recently my daughter was begging me for a pair of skinny jeans to start school very "fashionable".

"But you have three pairs of jeans that are still in good condition" I said.

She answered that they were too baggy, too old, and besides, bell bottoms are sooo last year...

Suddenly she said: Mami, why don't you fix my jeans and make them skinny?

Now, I am not very handy with a needle but I am for recycling (and saving money!) so I thought it was a great idea. I mean, it was worth a try.

You will need:

A pair of jeans

Matching color thread

Needle (or sewing machine, but not necessary)

Safety pins

Scissors

Color pencil and ruler

and a girl model.

Instructions

1-Turn pants inside out.

2-Let the model wear the pants and, from the knee down, pin the pants close to the leg with the safety pins,

making sure to leave some room because you don't want them to be too tight. (Not surprisingly, my daughter wanted this to be very tight, lol)

3-Take the pants off her and put them in a flat surface.

4-Following the safety pins, mark a line with the ruler and baste loosely.

5-Turn the pants and again let her try them on, to see if it needs extra adjustments.

6-Finally, start sewing! If you have a sewing machine, well much better.

7- Cut the excess material.

8-Enjoy new skinny jeans and wear them proudly.
