The Many Benefits of Sleep

Kid-Romeo
Many of us sleep every night and do not really how the importance of it. Some of us just go to sleep because we have to, we cannot keep up, or just because you have to be up early. Just as a machine if it stays on for a long period of time it will need to shut down and restore itself. This is also true with our bodies; during sleep our bodies repair themselves giving us new life and energy for the next day. Sleeping helps your immune system, restores organs, replaces old cells, relaxes your mind, and other similar things. In this article I will discuss the benefits of sleeping, what happens when you do not sleep, and how much sleep you need at night to help you have a healthy and safe life.

The first topic we will discuss about sleep is the benefits. Sleeping is the most amazing thing you can do for your body and everyone around you as well. As stated above when you sleep your immune system is helped, organs are restored, old cells are replaced, and your mind is relaxed. These things are very beneficial for you to be able to function during the day. Another benefit of sleeping is that it releases hormones that are beneficial to your health. The hormone that is transferred throughout your body is a growth hormone this helps children to grow, and helps keep fat and muscle mass under control. Another hormone that is released is called leptin this helps keep your appetite and weight under control. Sleeping helps your bodies stay young and soft. Wrinkles are prevented because sleep slows down how fast your body ages. Sleeping helps your immune system stay intact by creating more white blood cells. When more white blood cells are made it helps prevent attacks from the flu, colds, viruses and different bacteria's. Sleeping helps
your brain to work properly making you more alert and responsive during the day. Another benefit of sleeping is it helps you from being depressed and having anxiety. This happens by reducing cortisol levels in the body which cause stress and depression. Sleeping is one of the greatest things you can do for your body without it you will not be able to have a great and healthy life.

The next topic we will discuss about sleep is the proper length and time to sleep. Sleeping is good for you in many ways, if you get the right amount of sleep at night. You should get at least eight hours of sleep a night to have a healthy body and function properly during the day. The amount of hours needed are between seven to nine hours of sleep a night. These times are mostly for young and older adults. For children five years old and younger they usually need about twelve to fourteen hours a night. Most people do not get enough sleep at night and have to use energy drinks, caffeine, and other similar things to stay up. Those kinds of products are not good for your body. If you do not get the right amount of hours to sleep you may need to rely on an alarm to wake you up, feel tired, and very fatigued during the day.

The final topic we will discuss about sleep is what happens when you do not sleep. When you lose a sufficient amount of sleep you are prone to illnesses such as heart problems, diabetes, weight gain, aging and other similar traits. Insomnia is one of the major illnesses of not sleeping which is caused by many other factors as well. One of the reasons we need sleep is for the safety of our selves and others. When we do not sleep we tend to become drowsy, tired, and very fatigued this can cause many accidents especially while driving. Driving while tired causes over a thousand deaths a year and its happening a lot more. Sleeping has been known to cause marriages to be broken up due to the stress that the lack of sleep causes. When we do not sleep enough we tend to get sick quicker with many health problems like the flu, cold, increased fatigue, and insomnia. Some other health problems are hypertension, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, obesity, heart conditions, arthritis, mental problems, being sleepy during the day, and many other symptoms. Not getting enough sleep can cause you to lose your job. This could happen by falling asleep at work, and being so tired you cannot perform your desired task correctly. Not sleeping enough causes you to be clumsy, tired, sluggish, and gives you bad coordination skills during the day which can cause many problems for you and others around you. Getting the right amount of sleep is so beneficial for your health, your life, and people around you sleep should be the most important task in your life.

Sleeping is probably the most efficient thing you can do for good health and a happy lifestyle. Sleeping is known to make life a lot easier to handle especially through stressful times. The right amount of sleep helps us to function and operate properly. If we do not sleep at night with a sufficient amount of time we will go through the day as a zombie. This would not be safe for us or the others around us. These tips I have given you are some of the major tips about why sleeping is so important for us. If you have sleeping problems and these tips have not helped you in any way please see a doctor for further help. A goodnights sleep is worth more to your body than any amount of money, and any want or need. Sleep helps keep you healthy, alert, and happy for family and friends.

Sleeping can help you learn new skills, by helping you with your thoughts from the day. While you sleep your mind focuses on these thoughts and builds them into your memory.
