How Small Business Credit Cards Help Small Business Owners

Antonio Seegars
The purpose of a business credit card is to establish and be able to spend a line of credit based solely on your business assets. By using small business credits cards a small business owner can easily separate their business finances from their personal finances and establish a line of credit that can help them get a small or big business loan in the future.

A business credit card is a good tool for small business owners who have problems with their bookkeeping. Every time you use your business credit card the transaction is tracked by the issuing bank and can be viewed online or downloaded to a computer for easy anaylzing. Making it easy for even the most unorganized small business owner to keep track of business finances as long as they only use their business credit card for business purposes. And using a small business credit card for all business transactions also makes it easier for small business owners to prepare their taxes due to the fact that everything is already basically organized for them, so no time or money is wasted on pointless accounting ventures. Having all transactions organized can also make it easier for small business owners to find out what deductibles they can put on their tax return and save money.

Recently credit card companies have created new rewards programs that award credit card users points, prizes and other incentives every time they use their card. While I don't advise small business owners to get a business credit card just to be rewarded a prize,if you can get what you want in a credit card and get a prize for using it then why not take the offer for a credit card that offers rewards? Obviously the whole purpose of credit cards reward programs is to drive credit card users into overzealous spending so self-restraint must be excercised so only use your credit card on occasions when you need to.

And the last and maybe most important benefit of having a business credit card is that it establishes a business line of credit with a bank and if you use your credit card wisely and pay everything on time it lets them know that your a trustworthy business owner because you can maintain a business credit card and keep it in good standing and in the eyes of most banks that qualifies you for a small business loan if you need one. So if a small business owner wants to upgrade or needs money for repairs it's easier for them to get it if they already have a business credit card in good standing with a bank then it is if they just walked into a bank lobby and asked for a loan.
