How to Get a Small Business Loan

Robb Weigel
Getting a small business loan these days is difficult because banks are just not giving out loans to small businesses as they should. However, it is possible to get a small business loan.

Step 1) Go to a local bank if possible. When I mean local, I mean a community bank. Unless you have good collateral and excellent employment history, you can forget about doing the online application for one of the large national banks. Set up a presentation interview with the bank manager, owner, or whomever decides up whether loans are approved or not.

Step 2) Make an excellent presentation. Get your business plan together--dot every t and cross every i--and blow the socks off the owner/manager of the bank. You need to have a slide show on a projector so that they can visualize exactly what you are saying.

Step 3) Ask for the loan with authority. Don't murmer "Can I have the loan?". Show the owner/manager that they will make a return on their investment is they decide to work with you. Expect a yes, and you have a better chance of getting one.
