How to Sneak in Exercise

Raiscara Avalon
A lot of people don't have time to go to a gym every day and work out for an hour. Or there isn't enough wiggle room in the family budget for an expensive gym membership. Whatever your reason, there are ways of sneaking some exercise into your daily routine.

Go Outside To Smoke

Many smokers sit around when they smoke, watching television or doing something on their computers. Going outside to smoke will get the blood moving and your muscles working. Additional benefits of going outside to smoke are cleaner air in your home, less smell on your clothes, and no nicotine deposits on your walls and furniture. Never mind the fresh air you'll get.

Pace While On The Phone

Many of us spend a lot of time on the phone, either at home or on the go. Each time the phone rings, stand up and walk about the room or your home while talking. Take the call outside if possible to vary the terrain. If you work on the phones, stand up and take calls as you can and walk around your cubicle or work station.

Set A Timer

Many people spend their entire work day sitting down. Setting a timer can help get your blood moving. I set a timer for 45 minutes, work for that time, then get up and move around and stretch for 15 minutes. Walk down to the water cooler, file paperwork, walk around the office, or if you can, go take a walk. Just move.

Clean The House

Did you know that you actually burn calories while doing housework? Get up and clean! Setting a timer can be a good idea in this case, especially if you have health issues that prevent you from moving for more then a certain time, or you get winded easily. I do my housework in 15 minute chunks of time, unless I'm feeling really froggy. You might be amazed at what you can get done in even 5 minute chunks.

There are many different ways to add exercise to your day. Vary your movements for maximum benefit. Do squats, wall push ups or even crunches while on the phone. Do leg lifts while washing dishes. Arm curls while carrying a laundry basket. The possibilities are nearly endless. Check out No Excuse Workouts for some quick exercises to add to your day to increase weight loss, toning and health. Anyone can increase their movement and reap health benefits.
