The worst thing you can do for dry, chapped lips is to lick them or use products like Chapstick, which only makes it worse. Chapped lips can be softened up using natural methods and a diet rich in B12 and other essential vitamins and nutrients.

The first step in softening chapped lips is to drink enough water. Moistening from the inside is essential to healthy skin and lips. This is self-explanatory, but often ignored, and is the root cause, along with nutrient deficiencies, that cause the majority of skin problems in people. Drink your water if you want softer lips.

The next step to reduced chapped lips is to get enough essential nutrients into your body. You can take supplements, but doing it the natural way, by eating them, is even better. Getting enough Omega 3and B12 is the best way to get softer lips.

You can get B12 by eating seafood, like certain fish, oysters, crab, lobster, mussels, clams, and caviar. You can also get some vitamin B12 from, eggs, beef, lamb, and cheeses like Swiss and mozzarella.

You can take a warm, wet washcloth and gently try to rub off the dry skin from chapped lips. Don't do it too hard, you can damage your skin, just a little bit each day. To keep them soft, rub on a few drops of olive or flaxseed oil.
