How to Make Solar Infused Arnica Oil
For Muscle Pain, Sprains and Relief of Joint Pain Caused by Arthritis
What you will need to make solar infused arnica oil;
1 cup arnica flowers (fresh) or 1/2 cup dried
large clean and dry glass jar with a lid
1 quart oil of your choice (almond, grape seed, jojoba or avocado are good choices)
Essential oils -Optional (good choices are rosemary, lavender and peppermint)
strainer
funnel if you have one
cheesecloth
First you will want to place the arnica flowers into the glass jar. Pour in the oils (not the essential oils) and put the lid on. Set the jar in the sun for several hours. Place the cheesecloth in your strainer and then strain the herbs out reserving the solar infused oil. Be sure to squeeze any excess oil out of the herbs in the cheesecloth as you strain the plant matter out. Pour the infused oil into a jar and add 6 drops each of the essential oils. Store this mixture in a cool dark place away from direct sunlight.
This is a wonderful massage oil bath oil or just a first aid oil for bumps and bruises. You could definitely cater the scent to your own taste or leave it unscented for the minimalist.
To use this oil just dab some on your sprain, skin irritation or what have you and massage well into the skin. You should feel immediate relief within 5 minutes. Reapply as needed. It is greasy. Though you could use a less greasy carrier oil such as avocado which is more readily absorbed by the skin. You can also pour a few teaspoons into your bath for a pain relieving soak.
This solar infused arnica oil is an ideal gift. Especially for those who play sports or do hard labor on a regular basis. It is also nice for seniors and those who suffer from joint or inflammation due to arthritis and other ailments. It is definitely a must in households with children for everyday bumps and bruises.
This oil should never be taken internally as it can be fatal. Be sure to keep it labeled and well away from pets and children.
