How to Soothe Mosquito Bites Naturally

Ways to Get Rid of the Itch!

Mosquitoes may be my worst, hated outdoor pest as they always seem to target me, and cause these huge, swollen, itchy, irritating bites. During the summer even going out for a stroll may cause me to be hunted down by the mosquitoes. Lately, I got one huge swelling bump that looks almost like one of those bumps cartoon characters get when they are hit. I couldn't take it anymore, and instead of waiting for it to go down by itself (which became apparent 2 days later, it would not be soon), I had to find some remedy or another to help me get rid of the Mosquito bite as it was becoming unbearable.

The first thing one may think of is Calamine oil or somewhere along those lines as they help soothe the skin, and calm the irritation; however, because I also scratched a mini wound in the middle of the bite, I was hesitant, and looked for other treatments. Believing in natural remedies, and not wanting to apply any lotion onto my skin or any chemical based medications, I had a long way to go.

It wasn't long before I heard that taking a long hot shower would help the swelling, and the irritation. Taking a hot (almost unable to stand) shower, would help increase the histamine alert which causes the irritation and itchiness. After putting the histamine action into high alert, it will slowly die down, and won't come back for a while; thus, an itch-less couple of hours. When the histamine reaction is at high alert for the first thirty seconds, it may itch like crazy; however, after the histamine reaction dies down, you won't have to worry about itching for around six to twelve hours. I couldn't help trying it hoping that it would work out, and to my surprise, it worked. The itchiness had completely died down, and left. For a couple of minutes in hot water, the itchiness will be gone for a couple of hours - seems like a good deal to me!

Next, I started looking for other remedies. One of them was to put some cooler fruits on your skin to refresh it. During the refreshing period, it generally works like Calamine oil and will calm down the irritation and itchiness for a while. For example, watermelon peels are definitely wonderful to try - especially on hot, sunny weather. For some people, it works while for others it doesn't seem to have much of an effect. Although the affect isn't as long lasting as a nice, hot shower, it works out to be quite cooling for a sunny day. There are other fruits you may want to try.

To my surprise, there are many natural remedies to get rid of the itchiness from mosquito bites, so that it is possible to enjoy a relaxing day without being disturbed again and again by the itchiness. Personally, I enjoy using natural remedies like the hot shower more as it doesn't add any chemicals to my skin, and it's long lasting. If you ever get an unbearable itch, you should definitely try some of these wonderful remedies.
