L J Pearce
Spending money is something which will all do, and in some respects have to do to get by and live life. However sometimes spending can get a bit out of control and on top of you if you let it slip. Here are a few suggestions, ideas and ways that you can control your spending.

1. Control or try to control your emotional spending. Going shopping when you are a little low or feeling down is possibly one of the worst things you could do, so don't do it. Don't think that shopping and spending money will solve your problems as it wont.

2. Keep an eye on what your spending. To help sort out how much your spending, where, when and why, how about keeping a spending dairy. This is something that you write in each and every time you spend money or buy something. Keeping a spending diary will help you keep on top of things and will help you see in black and white what you are spending.

3. Try to shop around for the best deals you can. Spending more money than you need to is pointless and worthless so to tackle this why not shop around and try to find the best deals you can, be it on energy prices, insurances, food and so on. Cut down your spending wherever and whenever you can.

TOP TIP: Use comparison website such as www.moneysupermarket.com and www.gocompare.com to make sure you are getting the most for your hard earned money.

4. Look at downsizing. Perhaps your house, your car, mode or transport or something else is costing you too much. If so have you considered downsizing to save you some money and to help with your spending.

5. Budget for treats, holidays and other luxuries. To help reduce your spending why not create and stick to budgets. Budgeting will help you keep track of your finances.

6. Cut back on your food bill. Why not try eating own brand food and products to help cut down your spending.

7. Consider switching suppliers, be it energy suppliers, or health suppliers, if there not the best around then consider switching them.

8. Try not to go out when you have had a bad day. If you have had a bad or rough day, try to stay in a bit to calm day. Try not to go out when you are in a funny mood as you will be more likely to spend more to try and cheer yourself up!

I hope you have found this article both useful and helpful. Good luck with cutting down your spending. I wish you every success.
