How to Make Sour Cream Coffee Cake with Chocolate Chips

  • Streusel topping and filling:
  • 1/2 cup - firmly packed Light Brown Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons - cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons - butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup - all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups of chocolate chips
  • Batter:
  • 3/4 cup - butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups - Granulated Sugar
  • 3 - eggs
  • 2 teaspoons - vanilla
  • 3 cups - all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons - baking soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons - baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon - salt
  • 1 1/2 cups - sour cream
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour 10-inch tube pan(or bundt pan) and set aside.

  2. Step 2

    Make Streusel Topping and Filling. In small bowl, combine brown sugar, nuts, cinnamon and chocolate chips. Put 3/4 cup aside to use for the filling. To the remainder, add 4 tablespoons butter and 1/3 cup flour. Use a fork or your fingers and cut in the butter until mixture resembles a coarse crumbly mixture for the topping. Set aside.

  3. Step 3

    In large bowl beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla and continue beating until mixed.

  4. Step 4

    In medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. On low speed, alternately beat flour mixture and sour cream into butter mixture, beating until smooth.

  5. Step 5

    Spoon 1/2 of batter into prepared pan, spreading evenly. Sprinkle with brown sugar filling. Top with remaining batter and sprinkle top with streusel topping.

    Bake 55 to 65 minutes, Cool in pan on wire rack for 20 minutes. Enjoy!
