How to Spend on Valentine's Day - If You're Really Desperate

It's that time again. The Holiday crunch. 5 national holidays in 5 months. And we're down to the next to last one. Valentine's Day. I believe in this day. Although, like every other Holiday in America, it has become so commercial that all we can think about is how much money we have to spend when it comes, it is still a great holiday that reminds us to show those we love that we love them. We're kind of forced to actually. But in most ways I think that's a good thing.

Ah Valentine's Day. The sweet, the sweets and the heartache (from the amount of money you spent). Money is always the problem though, isn't it?

Well some of you boyfriends and girlfriends and husbands and wives and friends and family can afford to go out and buy some cards and chocolate and such but for those of us who can't, I mean those of us who can hardly afford our internet connections each month, here are some methods to use when giving gifts for Valentine's Day when you want to be sweet your friends or romantic with your partner.

1) 99 cent store. Now I can not stress this enough - GO TO THE 99 CENTS STORE. You don't believe me now, but some of you know what I'm talking about. You can spend five dollars on 15 people. Believe me, it's the way to go if you want to buy for a lot of people and give them all a similar gift. Like chocolate. You can buy a bag of chocolates and give 2 chocolates to each one of your friends in a little paper sack or any material that you can fold up and put a bow on. It works.

2) Make cards. An oldie but a goodie. If you can't spend a dime, spend your time. Look around your hose and do some spring cleaning. Find some paper you'll never use again, no matter what color. Find some crayons or markers. Go the three-year old route. Now, fold up the paper into card form and draw something on the front. You can draw a heart, a record player, a monster truck. With your humor, you'll have to write a funny line inside. It's personal, it's cute, it takes the receiver back to their childhood, it's cheap, and most of all it's heartfelt.

4) Pot Luck Party. Spend 10 bucks for you and your friends. Have them all bring over something to eat including drinks. Have a party for the lonely with games and alcohol to boot. You can play the "Write something naughty to someone in the room" game. You put everyone's names on a cup. Then throughout the night, each person writes a note for that person and puts it in a cup. During the party, you all read your notes aloud. Very entertaining.

5) Movie and a dinner inside. Take your girl or your boy inside for dinner. Use stuff you already have at the house. Now they still may want a present of some sort. Revert back to number 1 and 2.
