Easter egg treasure hunt:I have found that this works great.Makes the children think and it also teaches them to read a map. There are several ways of doing this.First what do you stuff the eggs with? Not the normal candy I tell you.All year long we tend to save our loose change and this is where it comes into play.
Stuff your eggs with the change.Pirates are always after the money, right.
Now your Map:You can make small maps for everyone or make a big one that they all can look at.If you want the game to last longer use a big map. This makes them come back each time and have to look.Make sure to decorate your map and add plenty of clues.Every Pirate map has an X spot. You can put a egg worth more than the rest or have a special prize for the one that finds it..
Another way is to get a kids pool and fill it with sand.Use old poker chips and number them a bury them in the sand.Take your Easter eggs and number them too.At the end the children get to match the numbers to the eggs and take their prizes home. You can also choose to hide the poker chips around the yard instead of the eggs.Poker chips won't rot like eggs will..
Instead of using candy use small prizes.Stickers, play rings etc.. Your local dollar store has great party stuffers that work well in stuffing your eggs.Place money instead of candy.Every little one loves money.Even the big ones do too !
Easter egg clue hunt:Number your eggs and place a clue in it that will lead your child or children to the big prize.Remember to tell them you have to follow the numbers in order.Very rare do they find 8 before 2.If they do let them know that they have to place it back down and head for 2.Great prizes for this are stuffed animals.
Our kids are always in hurry to get the egg hunt over with just so they can see the prizes.Us adults are hoping it will take longer than 3 minutes. We ate to much and would really like to sit a bit.So how do you slow them down and make a egg hunt last longer? Well heres a couple ideas that just might slow the little ones down..
Hide only one egg and tell them they are just not looking hard enough.Ha ha just kidding.Who said you can't add a normal kid game to a egg hunt.Check these ideas out.
Three legged Easter egg hunt:Everyone knows how to do a three legged race.Spice up the egg hunt.Pair up the children with each other.Try to get ones that are close in sizes.I know parents it seems like fun to do one big and one short but it doesn't work out that way...
Red light green light Easter egg hunt:we all know how to play this one.Have someone standing by to be the caller and let them at it.The fun part is when you call out yellow or orange and they take off.Time to send them back to the start line. You can keep this one going for over an hour..
Relay egg hunt:Have your start line.Set them up in teams. One at a time runs for a egg and comes back and tags the other. The team with the most eggs wins. This will teach them a bit of patience's too.Learning to wait their turn.
Turn your easter egg hunt into a carnival:All you need is plastic eggs and a box of prizes set up your little booths.Number each egg at the booths in order for them to get their prizes. Here is some ideas that work great:
Bob for eggs:This one is really for the adults to have a great laugh trust me they can pick up the egg.I have done and it was well worth it.
Fishing for a egg:All you need is a stick, some string, and tape and you make your pole.Find something to hide a bow and place eggs in the box so that they can fish. The tape will allow them to attach the egg to it.
Egg bowling:Stack those eggs up and get a small bouncy ball or tennis ball and allow them to knock the eggs down. You will have to be able to give them a ticket to claim a prize or have a prize for how many eggs they knock down..
Egg toss:fins some bowls and set them up on a table and allow them to try to make the eggs in.Give them like 5 tries each.Don't forget to put a couple bowls that the eggs won't fit in just to give it a little spice. You can use boxes for this as well.
I hope you and your family will enjoy this spice up to your Easter egg hunt.Have a little imagination and roll with it.Remember if you won't to sit for a bit and make that egg hunt last longer it must be a challenge. These ways will not send you to the poor house. All supply's are already sitting in our homes.
Have a Happy Easter all !!!!!!
