If you are not looking for a real contact sport such as touch football, then perhaps you and your family will enjoy kickball instead. Kick ball can be played down at any park that has a baseball field. You simply play just like you were going to play baseball, only you are playing with a big red rubber ball, and your leg is actually the bat. Think of the game as baseball mixed with a twist of soccer. The pitcher will roll the ball, and the hitter will kick the ball as hard as they can. As long as the ball is not a foul ball, the kicker will run to first base, and so on. This game can bring out a lot of laughs within your family; it is a great way to spend an afternoon.
How about a game of tetherball? This game can either be played with one person, or two people. The basic catch to the game is you have to get that ball all the way around the pole, before your opponent does. The ball is tied to a rope, which is attached to the top of a pole. From there, two people will hit the ball back and fourth trying to get the ball around the pole first. If you are unsure of how to play get out there and give it a shot.
Sand volleyball is also a very fun game to play with your family. If you do not have a beach anywhere near you that is no problem, your neighborhood park might already have a sand volleyball court where you and your family can get together and play. This game can be played boys against girls, or parents against kids. If you are a competitive family, you will have no problem having fun with this game.
The game of badminton can be played in your very own backyard. Think of this game as a cross between tennis and volleyball. You can buy a badminton set at your local department store; the set will usually have everything that you need, including four rackets, a couple birdies, and a net to play with. The basic idea of this game is to hit the birdie back and fourth between teams, a point is score if the other team misses a hit. This game takes a lot of moving, so if you are looking for some fun and exercise, you have found it.
Sports activities can be great for a family who is looking to be more active and looking to spend more time with each other. There are a wide variety of sports activities that anyone can play together, such as basketball, baseball, even soccer. If you are looking for something that is going to be easy to start out with, with your family, then try the games that have been mentioned above.
