How to Spot Anorexia Symptoms

Jim Posey
Anorexia is a life threatening illness that is very serious to the individual. It is very important to be able to identify the symptoms of anorexia so that you will be able to help people who might be suffering with a disease that likes to keep itself scarce. Anorexia symptoms are usually easy to notice because the huge change that it has in people's mood and behavior. Once you confirm anorexia symptoms you need to do everything in your power to get that individual professional psychological help.

The most important and visual symptoms of anorexia is the dramatic change in appearance that can occur when an individual starts voluntary starvation. Depending on the diet the individual is on it might be possible for them to be close to twenty pounds under weight as a consequence.

One habit that anorexics employ to save themselves from being ousted in social situations, when it is required of them to eat, is that they will play with their food instead of eating it. You might find them building strange structures out of their food instead of eating it. This way, to the less than participant observer, the anorexic looks as if she is doing something with the food. The food changes appearance many times so it might look as if she ate it.

People who are anorexic are, of course, obsessed with their bodyweight and have enormous amount of body weight issues. Thus, you might find an anorexic spending ridiculous amount of time in front of the mirror grabbing at whatever but of body fat they can. Remember that although an anorexic might surely be under weight in their mind they can pick out certain parts of their body that look like fat and the disease continues to spiral.

Another symptom of anorexia is dizziness and lack of concentration. If a student has a hard time staying awake in lectures it is possible that the student might have an eating disorder. You might notice that anorexics spend a large amount of time exercising and when they are not exercising you will find them resting somewhere.

It is common for anorexics to be out right anti social but inside long for the acceptance of others. Because of the anti social behavior of anorexics, it is common for them to suffer loneliness, lowered self worth and outright depression.

Remember that only a medical professional can properly diagnose anorexia and it is up to you to spot some possible symptoms in case the medical professional doesn't see it outright
