Laundry Room Décor

The laundry room is a very useful room of the house. We visit it often, usually several times per day. Doing laundry can be looked at in one of two ways. It can be viewed as yet another chore, another thing we have to do, or it can be looked at as a few moments of time to ourselves.

I enjoy doing laundry. Am I weird? Oh, maybe. I do love to do the laundry though. Doing laundry is a chance for me to go to a quiet room. The laundry room. With five kids, a husband, two cats, two dogs and six puppies quietness is seldom heard in my home. However, the laundry room is a room of the house that is totally quiet and peaceful.

Thinking of time to do laundry as time to yourself is one way to make doing laundry more enjoyable. Another way is to spruce up your laundry room. Décor does not have to be limited to the main rooms or bedrooms of your home. The laundry room deserves décor as much as any other room of the house does.

The first step in sprucing up your laundry room is to get three or four hampers. Sort the dirty laundry by putting it into the appropriate hamper. This makes the dirty laundry look less undesirable. It also helps to make doing laundry easy. Everything is already sorted. Label each hamper. One for kids clothes, one for towels, one for your husbands work clothes, and one for your clothes. Add hampers as you see fit.

The next thing you can do to spruce up your laundry room is to either paint or wallpaper it. Give it a bright and cheery color. Make it pretty, pleasing to the eye. Just because it's a laundry room doesn't mean it can be beautiful. Add a wall border to give it that extra touch!

Another thing you can do to spruce up your laundry room is to replace the flooring. A fresh and new vinyl floor covering can do wonders to improving the look of your laundry room. Vinyl flooring is durable and easy to clean.

Yet another thing that you can do to spruce up your laundry room is to make it more functional. Consider adding shelves or cabinets above the washing machine and dryer. These will look great and will also come in handy for storage. Dryer sheets to laundry soap can be neatly arranged and stored on shelves or in cabinets.

A rolling closet is also a wonderful way of not only sprucing up the look of your laundry room but also of making it more functional. Most are a beautiful shiny chrome and look great with any decor. All have wheels and can easily be moved. These are wonderful to have for cloths that hang. Simply remove them from the dryer and hang them right in the laundry room. That reduces wrinkles and make them easy to grab when it's time to put them away.

Lastly, another idea for sprucing up your laundry room is to install a corner rod for hanging coat hangers on. It is decorative storage. The multicolored variety of coat hangers look great hanging all together, especially at an angle. This also provides much needed storage for coat hangers, which are a laundry room essential. Thanks for reading and take care!
