How to Get Stains Out of Your Kids Clothes

Easy as One, Two, Three

Jeanne Marie Kerns
Any parent knows that when they go to sort through their children's laundry that stains are going to appear on more than half of their clothes. Now do not go and through those clothes away without at least trying these great ways to remove stains that I personally recommend.

Sensitive Skin

Before you try any of these ideas, let me remind you that if your child has sensitive skin do not use anything other then Dreft Laundry Soap. This is by far one of the most skin sensitive detergent that you can buy without spending your whole paycheck.

Baking Soda

Baking soda is one of those items that can be used for many things. I personally have found that if you pour 1/4 cup of baking soda into the washing machine, you will find that your children's clothes will come out stainless and smelling very clean and fresh. No need to soak or rub into the stains either. Just pour, start, and wait until it is done. The best thing about using baking soda too is that it is extremely cheap to buy at about .89 cents a box.

Cascade Dish Detergent

Yes you read this right! Cascade dish detergent works wonders on babies clothes that have stains all on the front of them. Here is what you do, fill up your washing machine with hot water, the hotter the better. Add 1/2 cup of Cascade Dish Detergent, now add the clothes that have the stains on them. Let soak for approxiamately one hour. Drain the water, and restart washer cycle. Finish then put into dryer.

Hydrogen Peroxide

This can absolutely work wonders on those very tough stains that babies seem to get on their best clothes. Place the clothes on a flat surface and pour the peroxide directly on the stain. Do not scrub or rub at all. Allow to sit on the stain for 30 minutes, wash as you would a regular load of clothes.

Last but not least....

Clorox Bleach

You cannot use anything other than Clorox Bleach when using it to get stains out. Remember not to put any dark clothes into the washer when adding the Clorox Bleach or you will end up with no stains and no color either. Put all light clothes aside, add one cup of Clorox Bleach to a full washer of hot water, allow to agitate for a couple of minutes. Add clothes inside of washer and wash regulary. Once finish place inside dryer and admire.

A little toothpaste works well for some things, too. Regular dishwashing soap ( dawn and the other brands) is also good. Just a dap. Doesn't take much.

Cascade, great idea. All the hydrogen peroxide products seem to do a great job. When I was a kid, a blood stain meant you have to throw away the clothing. We have come a long way since then. Great article.
