Jeans
Step 1
Grasp your jeans by the cuffed ends and face the pocketed or backside outward. Fold the legs of your jeans together, closing the pocketed backside inward. This folds the jeans so that the seams all match.
Step 2
Lay the jeans horizontally across the ironing board. Plug in the iron and set it to the regular iron setting. If your iron features a water reservoir, add 1/2 cup of water to it and secure it shut. This assures that wrinkles will be steamed out of your clothes with ease. Let the iron heat up for five minutes.
Step 3
Start at the cuff of the folded jeans, aiming the iron's tip outward, toward the direction of the jeans' cuffs. Press down firmly and press outward. Pull the iron back a little farther from where you began, and press outward again. This smooths out wrinkles and presses the jeans to create an even seam and neat appearance.
Step 4
Work your way to the hips and backside of the folded jeans after ironing out the legs in the manner as instructed in Step 3. Turn the iron to where the tip of it faces vertically, while the pants are situated horizontally. Press firmly and use brisk back and forth movements as you press the hind area of the jeans.
Step 5
Turn the jeans over and repeat steps 3 and 4. Shirts
Step 1
Spread the shirt out and lay it flat on the ironing board so that most of the shirt is on its surface. It doesn't matter what direction the shirt faces. If it is collared, fold the collar in the position it would be in if it was being worn. Unroll the sleeves if they are bunched up as well.
Step 2
Press the iron at the center of the front of the shirt and aim the point of it toward the bottom hem of it. Press firmly and sweep downward in that direction. Start back at the middle of the shirt and slightly point the tip of the iron to the side of the shirt. Repeat the pressing and sweeping gesture.
Step 3
Repeat step two with the iron, going in all directions after starting in the center each time. This smooths out wrinkles quickly and efficiently. Turn the shirt over and repeat steps 2 and 3.
Tips
- Press the steam release button over excessively wrinkled areas of clothing to help work out wrinkles and kinks in fabric.
- Unplug the iron after each use. Failure to do so can cause in damage to your clothing, or worse, a house fire.
