One way you can start saving may be in a way you didn't realize. If you drink coffee, it doesn't even necessarily have to be Starbucks, you could easily be spending around $3.00 to $4.00 a day. If you spend $3 a day for five days that adds up to $15.00 a week. $4.00 a day adds up to $20.00 a week which then adds up to $80.00 a month. Start making coffee at home and bringing it with you will save you a few bucks. With all the cool creamers and coffee flavors out there you can get your favorite coffee right in your own home.
Another easy way to save some money is to start taking your lunch to work instead of eating out everyday. Even if you just spend $5.00 a day that adds up to $25.00 a week and $100.00 a month. Sometimes we don't realize how fast small numbers add up to big ones. Small changes can mean everything to your budget.
A great way to find hidden savings is to check your current plans for different services. Check with your cell phone provider about the possibility of switching to a cheaper plan. Double check your land line phone bill to see if you are paying for services you do not use. For example, you could be paying for caller id, call waiting or call forwarding. Services you may not be using. This could save you around $20.00 a month depending on what changes you make. You might can even bundle your services for one lower monthly payment.
Groceries are one of the biggest areas you can start saving. It definitely was in my household. It does take effort but it is worth it. You can easily cut your monthly grocery bill in half just by using coupons and combining them with sales and doing some planning. I suggest making a menu ahead of time for the week or even two if applicable. Take an inventory before you go shopping of what you have in your freezer, fridge and pantry. Make your menu out of those items and what is on sale. For more information on how to use coupons check out my article How To Be Coupon Savvy.
Some of us may not eat out during the week but we make up for it on the weekends. You can easily spend around $30 to $40 a meal for a family of four and sometimes that for two people depending where you go. Just going out only once on the weekend could save you around $120.00 a month.
You can still have and do the things you love and save money doing it.
