The first trimester can be very different for everyone. Some women find that their weight stays the same or that they even lose weight if they are plagued with morning sickness. In this case they may find that they are able to wear their normal clothes. For those who find their tummies expanding, one easy way to still look fashionable is to just buy a size or two larger than you would normally wear. This will not only give your stomach room to grow while still wearing "normal" clothes but this is also a wise investment as you can wear the clothes after you give birth as well. Most women are not able to just come home and slip into their pre-pregnancy clothes. Having the larger sizes will make great transition wear as your body returns to normal. If you find that the waist fits well but the legs or other areas are still too large you can always get them tailored to fit your correctly. Many women worry about the cost of doing this, but it is actually not as expensive as many think. For shirts many of today's fashions include flowing tops. Pregnant women can easily find these and if they purchase them a size larger they should last for a while into the pregnancy.
Once you are into your second or even trimester, and you find you are ready to transition into maternity clothes, look for clothes that you actually like. There are many maternity clothing stores that carry fashionable maternity clothes. Old Navy has an impressive maternity line. While not all stores carry their maternity clothes, you can always look at their website to see what they have to offer. Motherhood is another excellent choice for fashionable maternity clothes. Here they specialize in giving expectant mothers a large selection of clothes from casual wear to more formal wear. For those who want to invest more in their maternity clothes, A Pea in the Pod is an excellent choice. Here they feature designer maternity clothing. While they are somewhat pricier than other stores, many women enjoy the selections they offer and some also turn around and re-sell them once their pregnancy is over.
For those who are on a strict budget Walmart.com and many Target stores have affordable maternity clothing. Target features a line by Liz Lange that is both fashionable and wallet friendly.
As with normal clothes always be sure to try on maternity clothes before you buy them. Many maternity stores have special "belly inserts" that help you determine if you will need a larger size in the coming months. If you are buying online just be sure to read their sizing guide and look at their shipping and return policies in case something does not fit or you need to return it.
Just as with your pre-pregnancy clothes look for maternity wear that flatters you and that you are comfortable in. By following these tips you can easily look your best during pregnancy!
