How to Be a Stay at Home Mom and Go Back to School

Sarah Morris
As a stay at home mother. I have wanted to go back to school. Starting a life down the career path. It wasn't as easy as I thought. So many complications have come along with the whole college experience I expected. I felt as if I all I had to do was choose the right career path for me, apply for the needed classes and aid, then go. This was not the case. I come to find that I did not qualify for financial aid, no babysitter, and not enough money to pay for college myself. Here is a few things I found that helped me get started with the school experience I wanted. That has got me started to my career of choice.

Choosing the Right Career

With wanting to go to college, you have to know what career you plan to start with. In my case(and if your like me) I wanted to do about five different dreams! Now, I knew I couldn't do this. So, next was choosing which would be more logical for me and my life situation. This will be the best way to choose your first career. Think which one will get to you to where you want to be in life, which will help you to succeed, or which will fit around your current lifestyle.

Where to go to get your Schooling

As I said before, I am a stay at home mother. So this is one part of my life I have to work around. I want to be with my children, I have to work around my husbands work schedule, I have to find a school I can afford, etc. So I found that an online career program is a great way to help me fulfill these requirements of my life. I have been able to start my career. I am able to be there for my children. Best of all I can afford this school. There are varieties of online schools. That will work around your life. Even if your a working parent. Being home will help you get more time with your children.

Making Time at Home for School

Sometimes many think they will not get the proper time studying home with an online program. I thought the same thing. When I got started, I wasn't sure how I could manage everything. Along the way I have learned new tips, as well as had friends and family giving me helpful tips. Here they are:
1. Believe you will succeed.
2.Make a list of goals(such as what you expect to learn, what you will do when you are done, and how you can apply your training through the time of school).
3. Set specific times, that will be best for you, throughout the day to study(child's nap time, before bed, etc.
4. Take breaks. Don't try to cram three straight hours of studying in at one time. It does nothing but waste your time.
5. Get a study buddy. Have a friend or family member that can help you with flash cards, let you practice your studies with them. Apply your new skills to them.
6. Get plenty of sleep,
7.Eat healthy.
8. Don't give up.
9. Be proud of yourself, even if no one else seems to.
10. Most important, make time for it and stick with it!

Payments

There are schools out there that you can pay only fifty dollars a month for a year. This is an easy payment. All the materials you need are included. Penn Foster, has given me everything I need to succeed. I highly recommend its online college to anyone. The payments have been easy and reasonable. I am almost complete with my school program. With no troubles along the way. They have staff you can reach everyday, online exams, and materials that have been understandable.

This has been the best way for me, as a stay at home mother, to get my career started. It has been a great way to work around my hectic schedule. I know it may seem like your continued education is impossible, but read this and you will know it wont be. There are so many choices when it comes to your careers. So use this to get started.
