Remember to Keep in Mind that Physical Activity, and Weight Loss Are Commitments for Life

For some folks, going to the gym and working out seems to be the most dreadfully agonizing feat of their entire day. For others, there seems to be an almost palpable excitement about them when the mere possibility of an excursion to the gym gets them all worked up. Why is it drudgery for some folks and heaven for others? I think it's all in the mind.

Losing Weight and Exercise are all about Setting Goals

Nobody sets out in a car without some sort of direction or map if they intend to arrive at a predetermined destination. The same is true of any sort of program or goal. You have to decide where you want to end up, when you would like to arrive, and just what it's going to cost to accomplish it.

Go get a pad and pen, find a nice quiet place where no one will disturb you, and write down your weight loss destination. Just start by answering this one question, "Where do you want to end up?" Next, ask yourself how your life will be different once you arrive at your destination.

Work out the details by determining just what is going to need to occur if you're going to lose a certain amount of weight. Determine how many calories you'll consume each day. Set a goal of how long and what type of exercise will be necessary to reach your goal weight. There's a certain power in writing things down. The words provide a certain level of accountability.

If You're Going to Lose Weight, Work it in Every Day

Excuse are easily made because they don't require much energy and they let you slide past what you should have done. Excuses are for weak folks, for those who have already decided that they've already given up. If you're serious about losing weight, you have to put on your big boy or big girl panties and get it done.

Whether it's exercise, diet, or some lifestyle change, take a look at those written goals and decide what needs to be dome today in order to help meet that goal. If your goal is weight loss, work to make time for exercise today, or plan to eat less calories today. Perhaps it's necessary to get out and ride on that bicycle or walk a good distance today.

Commit to Your Fitness Program and You Will Lose Weight

You want to know what makes the difference between those who dread the gym and those who love it? It's all in their own minds. Those who have decided beforehand that working a fitness program is torturous, will find working out at the gym to be just that. It's nothing more than deciding in your mind that you want to lose weight, and then doing whatever it takes.

Those who love the gym and are sticking to a fitness program have decided that what they want is obtainable only through a fitness program. They're totally committed, undivided in purpose. They know what they want and what it's going to take to get it. Think about athletes who go through hours, days, months and years of training every single day, even when their body tells them they've had enough. What keeps them going?

Working at weight loss goals day after day is going to get you to your goal. Writing down your weight loss goals, changing eating habits, being a part of or developing your own fitness program and sticking with it every day is going to get you there. Successful weight loss is simple, but it's not easy. Decide in your mind where you want to end up. Meditate on what your life is going to look like when you get there. Commit to a fitness program and stick with it no matter what.
