How to Stick to Your Diet During Office Parties

Celebrating birthdays, holidays, and promotions is a great way to boost morale and create a comfortable working atmosphere. But what if you are on a diet? Even the occasion party can ruin all the work you have put into it. While you do not want to seem rude to your coworkers, you should not feel like you have to eat rich foods and desserts if you don't want to. There are ways that you can still attend these parties without having to spoil your diet. Eating less, only eating certain foods, and drinking fluids will help you get through any office party with style and grace.

If you know the office party will be mostly dessert foods, you can plan in advance by eating a little less in the days preceding the party and going to the gym afterwards to work off any extra food you may have eaten. The key here is moderation. If you are good at sticking to your diet, having a small piece of cake every now and then will not ruin it. You should make sure to only have one piece. Do not have several small pieces, just one small piece of cake or one cookie. This will help you stick to your diet without feeling like you have to eat everything that is presented to you.

If you want to look like you ate a lot more than you did at the party, you should keep a piece of cake in one hand, and a glass of water in the other. Drinking water will make you fill up fast, but it will not spoil your diet. People will not notice that you have been eating much because they will be more interested in eating the food that is on the table. You can have a small piece of cake or food, but limit yourself to one. Drink water for the remainder of the party and you will feel full and proud of yourself for sticking to your plan.

If the party will include other types of foods, then try to eat salads, vegetables, and other foods that are more nutritious than hot wings or lasagna. You will feel full and you will be able to enjoy dip, salad dressing, and other stuff that you might not normally eat. Limit yourself to a small dessert and you will have a great time at the party without ruining your diet. It is not recommended that you skip breakfast the day of the party, but if the party is close to your usual lunchtime, if you skip that, you will be able to have a little more food at the party.
