How to Stomp Out Foot Odor

Erica Williams
It is unclear as to why some people are inflicted with smelly feet whle others are not. For some they have had to deal with horrific smells their entire life while others only have it occasionally. Foot odor is commonly manifested because of sweaty feet. Most likely ones with stinky feet are playing host to bacteria and maybe even some fungi that feast on sweat and dead skin cells.

One factor in particular that contributes to bad foot odor is wearing shoes that trap moisture. Going barefoot whenever possible is best so your feet can get some air to them. In the summertime wearing sandals work best. Shoe manufacturers who specialize in sports shoes often times use materials in their shoes that seperates the moisture from your feet and the shoe. No matter what type of shoe you buy, it is reccommended to wear more than one one shoe throughout the week. This is to allow the shoes you sweat in to dry out. If your shoes still have an odor try spraying them down with rubbing alcohol or soaking a wet paper towel and placing them inside your shoes overnight. This will help disinfect your shoe and rid odors.

Try using epsom salt. Epsom salt is commonly used to soak sore muscles in a bath or for infected cuts. But epsom salt can also be used to help reduce foot odor considerably. If you do not have epsom salt to your disposable, you may also use baking soda or plain table salt dissolved in warm water. Just use 2 tablespoons of baking sona in 2 quarts of water and soad your feet in the solution for 30 minutese each night for a month. Simple table salt also have the same compounds similiar to the ones in Epsom salt.

If home remedies dont work, try finding some over the counter products. If the problem is sweaty feet, using nonprescription Certain Dri appllied to the bottom of your feet should cut down on sweating and foot odor problems. If foot odor or dampness continue a few weeks after self treated, it may be time to see a doctor and find the underlying reason for your stinky feet.
