1.) If you don't recognized the name or number than don't pick up,if it's important they will say something. If this is someone that knows you,and wants to talks to you or someone in your household they will leave a message.
2.) If you never answer they will get tired of calling and getting no answer, you have to show them you're not interested.
3) Most unidentified callers want you to answer so they can hang up but, don't give them that opportunity to do so, screen your calls.
4) You can also *69 the calls that do have a name and number, look at this as someone who wants to gain knowledge of your where abouts.
5) Another good idea is to not have your own voice on your greeting, because than the caller won't know who house they are calling.
6) You should should tell your family and friends what to say when calling your house from an unknown area, or to say something to let you know it's them.
Most people gets these kind of calls, and if you don't answer them they will soon give up and see that it's a waste of time. Never answer unknown calls and your family or friends should always know what to say to get through to you. If you are in the kitchen cooking or in the shower you don't want to run to the phone only for the person on the other end to hang up, that is very annoying. There are a lot of people who likes to play these childish games, some will constantly call your house and when you answer they hang up. So, to avoid that screen all your calls, and always know who's calling you. What they get out of hanging up is be on me. Since the phone company hasn't came up a solution yet where we can have the privilege of knowing who your every call is, we have to protect ourselves. You can even have your family or friend use codes when calling, that will eliminate having to answer all those unwanted calls. And as for any business calls, the name and number should pop up, if not they should be able to leave a message or their name and number so you can return the call.
This way you will never miss a important call and at the same time avoid those annoying hang up calls you really don't have time to answer. And if you do happens to answer one of those hang up calls after you say hello a couple of times and you get no responds, just hang up,and if you see it's the same person calling over and over, don't answer because that's what they want is for you to say hello, so they can hang up. These type of peoples have nothing better to do with their life other than harass you, but don't let them screen your calls, and check your caller ID, or let your answering machine answer for you.

Post a CommentCarl, those are good ideas for home I guess a business would be a little different depending on what type of business you have. But, even for some business you can still screen your calls make sure to have caller ID and if no number shows up don't answer if they really want to do business with you they will leave a message. especially, if they're calling everyday just hanging-up you just know not to answer.
The calls are coming from machines. They call to see when you are home and more likely to answer the phone. They keep a record of your answering habits.
Lilli is out of luck if she has no caller ID. For home numbers, get on the do not-call-registry. Then the telemarketing machines have no reason to call and check on your answering habits.
I use a cell phone for my business. Here's what I do. I usually don't answer calls that show up with no number. If I do, it's my loss of time more likely than not. I also avoid answering out-of-state numbers as my business is local in nature. If I choose to answer, and it turns out to be a solicitor, I save the number in my phone as a contact named "Solicitor". Then that contact fills up with numbers, I start a new contact called "Solicitor2", and so on. Then if anyone calls from that number again, even months down the road, I just ignore it.
Lilli,I was speaking about calls you get at home. You shouldn't be getting calls at your business,if you are you should get caller id or have the answering machine answer the calls if it's your business. You can still screen your calls. There's a lot of businesss that don't answer the phones you have to leave a message. Maybe you don't want your business ran that way I don't know So,just get an answering service or a calling ID.
this doesn't help me, I am at a business and there is no caller ID on my phone, so I am at their mercy - bummer
I'm speaking about mostly personal calls, not calls the operator makes, and you don't have to answer those either. Not annoyed.
