One thing that can be very effective is to sit down together and calmly discuss strategies to survive on a limited budget. Brainstorming as a couple will help both parties to come up with a budget that can be implemented until things improve financially. For example, you may want to eliminate certain unnecessary luxuries such as cable and internet, depending on your situation. You can also limit the amount spent on food expenses by using coupons. These are just some simple strategies to implement in order to stop arguing.
Some couples create a limit that can be spent before having to inform the other partner. For example, a couple, Crystal and Danny, decide that they will inform each other on expenditures of amounts exceeding $100. Doing this eliminates surprises when a bill comes in the mail for that amount spent. Of course, you as a couple will have to determine the spending limit in accordance with your budget.
Determine, as a couple, how much money will be set aside for situations out of your control such as an accident or car trouble. Plenty of arguments in a marriage are caused from not having the necessary expenses to cover these important issues. Learning to reduce major stressors such as this will help you to stop arguing about money.
The worst thing a couple can do in a marriage is to stray from one another in stressful times. Make it a point to communicate with your spouse daily. Talk about your day at work or other activities you where a part of throughout the day. Share your worries and concerns. Do not bottle them up. Participate in some form of activity together, whether it is romantic or other. Always endeavor to stay close even in financially difficult times.
If you want to stop arguing about money avoid complaining about the lack of it. You may be accustomed to eating out every day or going shopping regularly before the money situation. It may not be easy to adjust, however, do not let the lack of money prevent you from living a happy life. Think about what you have not what you do not have. Avoid any unnecessary tensions in your daily life and arguments in your marriage will dramatically be reduced.
Stop arguing about money and build a stronger and more lasting marriage. When couples communicate and spend quality time together without complaining it becomes easy to avoid arguments.
