Things you will need to stop bill collectors.
*Paper and Pen (or word program and printer.)
*About $2 to send Certified Mail letter
*A few moments of your time
STEP 1:
Write (or type) a Letter to the bill collectors agency which is calling you informing them that you are making a request for them to immediately cease all communication with you regarding your debt according to "THE FAIR DEBT COLLECTION PRACTICES ACT." This is a United States statute that is part of the Consumer Credit Protection ACT. They will have to stop calling you unless they contact you to tell you they are terminating their efforts to collect the debt or filing a lawsuit. The calls will stop, legally.
STEP 2:
Go to your local post office and send the Letter that you have written to the collection agency via Certified mail. According to the US Postal Service, " With Certified Mail you can be sure your article arrived at its destination with access to online delivery information. When you use Certified Mail, you receive a receipt stamped with the date of mailing. A unique article number allows you to verify delivery online. As an additional security feature, the recipient's signature is obtained at the time of delivery and a record is maintained by the Post Office."
This is for you to have a record of them receiving it. Simply hand the letter to the postal clerk and say you want to send it certified mail. They will do the rest. It costs about $2.00 . You do not have to send the letter by certified mail but it is in your best interests to do so.
STEP 3
:
Relax and breath easier knowing that the bill collectors will stop calling you about your debts. They will have to leave you alone and stop calling you while you sort out your debt.
