How to Stop Cancer and Heart Attacks

Multi Vitamins Aren't the Answer

If you're thinking taking a multivitamin can save you from dying from two of the leading causes of death in America, cancer and heart disease, think again. Many people take vitamins on a regular basis thinking the vitamins will help them to live longer. However, there's a good chance those vitamins may not help you as much as you think. Since taking a multivitamin does cost some money, between 3 to 16.00 a month, it's a good idea to really know if you are spending your money wisely. A study shows vitamins are not the answer when it comes to preventing cancer and heart attacks. The real way to do that won't cost you anything.

First, here's the study. Reuters health reported that when 180,000 people where studied and put into the two groups, those who took multivitamins and those who didn't, the same number of people died from cancer and heart disease in both groups. In fact, Reuters health also noted that past studies have shown no connection between multivitamins and a reduced risk of cancer and heart disease. Other studies have shown that multivitamins don't even prevent diabetes.

Therefore, if you're thinking of popping a few vitamins every now and again to lengthen your life span, you may want to think again. According to the American Cancer Society, you can prevent cancer by balancing your calorie intake with physical exercise and activity, avoiding excessive weight gain throughout your entire lifetime, and losing weight if you are obese or overweight. You can also eat 5 or more servings of fruit and vegetables each day and limit the amount of processed meats you consume. Avoid things like smoking, second hand smoke, and carcinogens such as asbestos, solar radiation, and coal tars.

To prevent heart disease, limit unhealthy fats and cholesterol and food items such as butter, lard, gravy, and cream sauce. Eat fish, lean meat and poultry, legumes, and plenty of fruits and vegetables. Limit your sodium intake, and exercise is also key.
There are plenty of things you can do to prevent heart disease and cancer, however, according to the Reuter's study, taking multivitamins isn't one of them. It all comes back to the basics, a healthy lifestyle. Save your money on multivitamins and invest time into taking care of your body by eating foods that are good for you and staying active. Then, you're on your way to living a long life.
