How to Stop Your Cat from Farting

Jack Woods
Only recently you have started to notice that whenever you are near your beloved pussy cat, it cannot stay near you without passing gas. You probably want to stop your cat from farting, because you are worried about it's well-being, and are simply annoyed by the awful smell that the little poor thing produces. Worry not, my friend, there are ways to stop your cat from farting or at least least decrease the awful smell.

Dietary principles

A change in diet may be in order to stop your cat farting. Unfortunately, a lot of commercial cat foods often contain many ingredients which are indigestible by cats such as barley. This can lead to problems of the stomach, such as indigestion, which results in your cat farting awfully a lot. What is even worse, a diet that is rich in such ingredients can lead to a build up of gas in the stomach of your cat, and can eventually prove fatal, if not taken care of in a timely manner. Thus, stopping a cat from farting can be an issue of life and death. I would suggest using organic cat food instead of processed cat food, as the preservatives and bad ingredients will only alleviate the symptoms, and will not stop your cat from farting.

Worms

If you took a stray cat home from a shelter or from the street, it is extremely probable that it may have worms. Also, if you have had your cat for a long time, and it started to show these symptoms only recently, it might have contracted worms too. This is often the case for people who let their feline friends outdoors. The worms can be tremendously excruciating for your cat, and what is more, a byproduct of their life activity is harmful bacteria which in turn create a terribly smelling gas. If you could not stop your cat from farting by changing up its diet, it maybe a good idea to give it some anti-worm medications. There is a good change that this will stop your cat from farting.

If everything else fails

If the two options that I provided above did no help to stop your cat from farting, you may have to resort to going to the vet. They will often take an X-ray picture of the stomach of your cat to see exactly what is wrong with it, and then find a appropriate remedy to stop your cat from farting. The vet can probably provide you with better dietary foods for your cat, and give it some medications to improve the bacterial balance in your cat's stomach, so that you can stop your cat from farting excessively.

All in all, it is important to realize that a excessive farting can be a symptom of serious underlying illness or medical condition of the stomach, and should not most definitely be ignored. If the cat's farting does not stop after giving it worm medicine and properly changing up its diet, you should seriously take a visit to the vet, that is, if you truly care about your kitty cat.
