Tips to stop cheating on your diet are abundant, even though it may not seem that way while battling cravings during weight loss. You can take a number of steps to curb your cravings and keep your caloric intake down. At least enough to keep yourself from sabotaging your own weight loss progress. I have frequent contact with people trying to lose weight on a daily basis while working at the health food retailer I'm employed with. Here's a few of the tips I've heard they use, to help you stop cheating on your diet.

Maintain a Schedule

Thirst as well as hunger can and does cause some cravings. While on your diet, be sure to drink fluids regularly to help you avoid the 3 p.m. snack bar or other snack item. I've become aware that the American Dietetic Association recommends this very thing to stop cheating on your diet and promote weight loss. It's also imperative to maintain a regular eating schedule for all the same reasons.

Take Regular Breaks

If you're someone that has a high stress level be sure to take frequent breaks to stop cheating on your diet. Instead of giving into your impulses to help you cope with life's stress, climb some stairs, go for a walk with a co-worker, or simply use the time to catch up on things with a friend. Quickly switching up your environment as well as your routine can keep a looming binge to assist with coping at bay.

Indulge Minimally

It won't hurt to indulge yourself in some maybe not so weight loss friendly foods that you are no doubt craving, as long as you keep your portions under control. I found that some sliced banana with a drizzle of chocolate over them can be a great substitute if you're feeling like a victim of a looming sugar binge. Sometimes eating a small portion of something your craving is the way to avoid a larger binge that would set you way back.

Hopefully these suggestions can be helpful for those of you that are in the battle of the bulge to be successful at your weight loss goals and stop cheating on your diet. Nothing is more annoying than trying to lose weight with no success, leaving us open to a feeling of failure. Implementing these tips to stop cheating on your diet will have you feeling victorious!
