Eggs
If you enjoy the taste of eggs, you're in luck. Studies have shown that people who eat eggs for breakfast are more likely to consume fewer calories later in the day. There are a variety of delicious ways you can prepare your eggs including scrambled, poached, or incorporate your eggs into a healthy omelet with lots of heart healthy vegetables. If you're worried about the fat content in eggs, use egg substitute instead.
Whole grain cereals
Eating high fiber, whole grains cereals promotes a sense of fullness and helps to stop hunger cravings from developing. A bowl of bran cereal or oatmeal with skim milk is an excellent way to get a healthy dose of fiber and calcium as well as keep you hunger free for the remainder of the morning.
Vegetables
Vegetables tend to be high in fiber and water content which gives you a full feeling without adding additional calories. Two ways to use vegetables to help you consume less at meal time is to eat a fresh salad before each meal or a hot bowl of vegetable soup. You'll end up eating less at your regular meal due to the high water content of the soup and vegetables.
Fish
Eating protein with a meal helps to fill you up and stop hunger pangs later in the day. Most fish is high in protein and low in saturated fat and calories which works to your advantage. A particularly good choice is wild salmon which contains significant amounts of omega three fatty acids which are good for the heart.
Spicy foods
Eating spicy foods has been shown to not only to stop hunger cravings but may also increase your metabolism for short periods of time after eating them. The active ingredient in chili peppers is capsaicin which has a variety of healthy properties in addition to appetite control. When you eat a spicy meal, you tend to consume less food and calories than if the food is bland.
Stopping hunger pangs and cravings doesn't have to involve the use of potentially dangerous diet pills. You can use the power of natural foods to help control your appetite and limit your calorie intake. It's the safest way to lose those excess pounds.
