How to Stop a Nose Bleed

So your in your room watching the tv when out of no where you notice your nose is bleeding what do you do. A nose bleed can occur at any give time, but for the most part it is caused by dryness in air which can cause membranes to crack or become more fragile. Another way for a person to get a nose bleed is by blowing their nose too hard as well as picking at it. The first thing to do when you notice the blood pouring from your nose is not to panic. Most of the time it's not as bad as it appears so even though it looks like your losing a lot of blood it's usually not a sign of your dieing or anything crazy like that. Next, with your thumb and index finger securely pinch (not too hard) the openings of your nose to stop the passage of blood. This will help cease the blood from pouring though your nose while making it dry up causing it to stop.

Now slightly lean your head forward as this will help stop the blood from your nose from going down your throat. Never lean back to try to stop a nose bleed as this could cause the blood to go down your throat which could possibly go down your stomach. If enough blood goes down into your stomach it could nausea as well as vomiting. Now continue to hold your finger and thumb on your nose for about five minutes and then release your fingers to see if the blood has stopped.

Another easy way to stop a nose bleed is to get a small amount of tissue and either hold it where your nose is bleeding or stick it up in your nostril to stop the flow of bleeding. This will make it a little easier if your occupied with your hands. Now just wait about 5 minutes and remove the tissue from your nose. Check to see if the bleed has stopped and if it hasn't get another small amount of tissue and do it again.

After all bleeding has stopped clean all the places that are bloody (hands, around nose), but don't try to blow your nose as doing so could cause the bleeding to start back up. Just wait for a few hours to be safe and then blow your nose softly if you need to.
