How to Stop Sales Telephone Calls

In Particular Debt Companies

The Portland Journal
We all hate getting those telephone calls in the middle of the night or at inconvenient times of the day, we hate those calls from sales and marketing companies even more.

But how do you deal with them, and stop the calls coming in altogether?

Unfortunately unless you are very careful with your telephone number it is virtually an impossible task stopping every marketing company from calling you at least once in your cellphone's lifetime, but I can tell you one great way to deal with the newer blitz on your mobile phone from the ever so annoying 'Debt Companies'

One method if you get the call from a Debt Company is to leave them on hold for several minutes and not say anything at all, wasting a little bit of their precious time as they do yours.

My favorite is this - When you get a call and a sales person on the other ends asks if you have any debts, say to them "yes, let me go and get the details just give me a few minutes while I look."

Leave the sales person on hold for five minutes then return, and ask if they are still there on the other end.

When they reply "yes" then you can start with your list of debts.

1. I owe $10 to my Mom!

2. I owe the store 5 cents

3. My neighbor lent me $5 dollars if I don't get it back to him next week he said he will scratch my car!

4. I owe $6 million to the banks, problem is that the loans where all for $1 each, do you want the list?

And so on... you can be as silly as you want with your debt list until you get the phone put down on you or you get the reply like I did of "sorry we cannot help you at this time!"

Of course there are other things you can do to resolve the problem of telephone calls from debt companies or people hell bent on selling you any other products, and that is to telephone your cell's airtime provider and ask them to block the numbers that repeatedly call you. Most providers do have this facility or will give the information you need to start the process by other means.

You can also contact a company online to block unwanted calls; there are many of them if you perform a quick Yahoo Search.

Remember it might take a little time to stop all calls immediately, but in most cases the calls will stop within a few weeks.
