How To Make A Strawberry Facial Mask

Food for Your Face!

When I think of strawberries I think of sweet strawberry shortcakes, fresh strawberry pies or a big juicy strawberry dipped in dark chocolate. Strawberries continue to be one of the supermarkets best sellers, now available year round thanks to import shipping.

But the ancient Romans prized the wild strawberry, mother of our hybrid ones, for their medicinal properties. Modern nutritionist rate strawberries has extremely high in vitamin C, more than in the orange juice we drink every day for breakfast. Fresh strawberries eaten for their delicious taste and their good nutrition value are a wise choice for anyone's diet. Taste good and good for us, a winning combination!

But did you know that strawberries are also good for your skin! And that you can take fresh strawberries, combine them with other food items to make home made facial masks and scrubs that really work. And why do they work?

Strawberries contain salicylic acid, says natural beauty expert Janice Cox in her book, Natural Beauty at home. . It isn't necessary to spend exorbitant prices for the latest chemical filled facial mask. You can go to the supermarket, pick up a few items and have a strawberry facial that smells good and works and if a bit gets in your mouth, tastes good too!

Here is a great Strawberry and Honey Facial Mask from Mrs. Cox's book, one of over 250 wonderful natural home concoctions for home and body.

Strawberry and Honey Facial Mask

Supplies

4 fresh large strawberries, 1 T. of pure honey, 1 egg white

Step one: Puree all the ingredients in a blender

Step two: Wash your face with a mild soap and water, pat dry and apply mask to all skin areas of the face, avoiding the direct area close to the eye.

Step three: Sit and read the latest trash novel out on the stands or watch the birds in the yard fly around...you get it. Just sit and relax for 20 minutes. (I think this may be the most important piece of the puzzle!)

Step four: Rinse your face with cool water and pat dry.

How does it work: Well, it's the salicylic acid, but it's also the vitamin C. The honey kills acne causing bacteria and the egg whites act as natural astringents that dry up your oily skin. All of it combines together to work just as well as the over priced beauty counter regimens, although I'm no beauty expert so don't take my word for it. I think it works, cause my face felt like all clean and shiny!

I'm going to have to try this one - although will be difficult for me not to eat the strawberries before I get them on my face (my all time favorite food next to chocolate), thanks for the tip.

Great article. I wrote down the ingredients you suggested. I would love to try this face mask, but I know I would struggle to use the strawberries for a mask and eat them instead. The only way I can think of getting around this problem is sitting there during the 20 minute wait with a bowl of fresh strawberries.

I love strawberries. I'm afraid I'd eat them before I started making the facial mask. I'll have to try it someday if I can have control of not being tempted to eating them.
