How to Style Your Hair with a Pen

One of the facts of life is that there's never a hair clip around when you need one. Luckily, if you have long hair, you can easily use a ball point pen to create a sleek hair style.

For this hair style, all you need is a ball point pen and long hair-that is, hair about a foot and a half long at least. You can use any ball point pen or pencil you like. Longer, thinner pens tend to work better to hold hair up, but you can use any of your favorite pens.

To create the hair style, first pull your hair back into a low ponytail and begin to twist the hair into a bun. When you have twisted the hair all the way around, pull the end through, as if you are tying your hair into a knot. If your hair is long enough, your hair should stay up by itself now.

To secure your bun, take the ball point pen and poke it in through from left to right to anchor the hair in place. That's it! You now have a sleek hair style held up with just a ball point pen.

You can jazz the hair style up by adding your favorite hair clip to the side, or a couple bobby pins to keep stray locks of hair in line. Or you can go for a more relaxed look by pulling out a couple locks of hair from the bun to frame your face. A little hair spray will help finish the look and keep it from falling out.

The longer your hair is, the better this hair style will work. If you have shorter hair, the ball point pen may not hold the hair style up securely, and it will fall apart after a little while. But if you have long hair, this can be a carefree, secure hair style that is quick and easy to do.

Plus, there is the added benefit that you will always have a ball point pen on hand, or in your hair, to be exact. When you're a restaurant and need to sign the check, you'll never be unable to find a pen again.
