How to Have a Successful 4th of July Bash

Erica Dallas
The 4th of July is here and that means its time to P-A-R-T-Y! Everyone gets the opportunity to have a work free holiday and have a little fun in the sun! Many wait for this holiday to hold great events for their family and friends. 4th of July parties can have great themes too. In this article, you can find some fun ideas to make your 4th of July bash a success.

Costume Party: Costume parties are always interesting and lots of fun because it gives you a chance to be someone else or a part of your abnormal personality. Want to dress up as a Founding Father? Or wear an outfit made from an American flag fabric? Any of these are superb choices that really get you into the 4th of July spirit. Whats most interesting is that people (young or grown-up) love to dress in costumes from time to time. Make the party even more exciting by giving a prize to the best dressed person. Take lots of pictures and fill your photo album with lots of unique memories.

Beach Day: For those of you who love sand, crashing waves, and a beaming sun, spending the 4th of July on a beach is just the memorable outing for you and your family. It is sure to be lots of people crowding the beach, but thats okay. Find a nice spot to settle down in and enjoy your holiday. If you are really brave and have the funds, then throw a beach party that rivals one of Diddy's shindigs. Fire up the grill, bring out the cooler, and pump up the music. The combination is wonderfully brilliant!

4th of July in the Home: This party location is most common because it is the place of your immediate residence. Decorating your house and moving furniture to accomodate lots of people is definitely a challenge. One way to liven up the place is to plant American flags all over the place. Talk about representing the country! Balloons are always a nice touch so surround your house with the red, white, and blue themes. Or you could make creative banners that have famous American quotes illustrating how great it is to live in this country. Make guests feel proud and welcome.

Even food can be done with a twist. Go to your local department stores (i.e., linens and things, jcpenney, or bed bath & beyond) and try to find cookie pans with 4th of July shapes or your grocery store to buy a large cake with a big American flag in the center. You could also serve grilled shrimp skewers with minature american signs on the end. You can probably find very interesting silverware and other themed party utensils at you local party store. If you really are not up to cooking, then cater out at the fanciest bar-b-que or hot wing place. 4th of July is not a holiday without deviled eggs (my personal favorite) so be sure to serve lots of those! Other ideas and recipes to serve on the 4th of July can be seen on the WREG website, a local memphis network repreenting channel news 3. You can learn how to make a "White (and blue) ribeye steak" or a 'Red grilled tuna."

In my hometown of Memphis, TN, 4th of July festivities will be held at Tom Lee Park where people can get their fill of good food, great music and see the awesome display of fireworks. In Memphis, many families load up in their cars and go to view spectacular firework shows all around the mid-south. This can be another great way to spend the 4th of July. The kids love to see the lights and it provides a safety measure because the shows are done by professionals. Make your 4th of July holiday an interesting one with the great tips given. If you are in Memphis, Bartlett, TN, Collierville or any of the other surrounding areas, your stay is sure to be filled with bright lights and warm memories. Happy Independence Day!
