Write about personal experiences when blogging. That means writing about experiences that other people can relate to. Take a look at your readers to determine what subjects will be most interesting to those readers. For example, if posting on a stay-at-home-mom blogging-type of website, the readers are typically going to be stay-at-home moms. Write about your children and family life, so that the readers find something that they have in common with you. It doesn't make a lot of sense to write about article writing on a parenting blogging site, but writing about working from home as a parent may be useful information and may be information that readers can identify with.
Incorporate useful facts, trivia and newsworthy information into your regular blog. Using a parenting blogging site as an example again, useful information may be a headline about moms going back to school or getting their degree at home. Use the information in your blog and identify with it personally. This type of information not only pertains to your blog and your readers, but adds additional information that other bloggers may not be including in their blogs. Keep it interesting and be honest. If you're having a bad day with your kids, talk about it. If you're writing a blog about writing, talk about having writer's block or working on a difficult project. Use personal information and incorporate it into your blog, but talk about subjects that pertain to your readers and the blog in general. If including information about outside subjects, make it brief and try to relate it to the rest of the subject matter.
