The key to having a good interview is to be prepared. Have several copies of your resume; at least one for yourself and one for the interviewer. Know what you are going to say and how you will dress for the interview in advance. You do not want to wake up the morning of the big day and not have a clue what you are going to wear or say. This will cause you to be nervous and it will be apparent to your interviewer that you are not properly prepared.
A position for a job can be very competitive and you want to make sure that you do not blow your chance for a stupid reason that could be prevented. Have your clothes ready before you go to bed the night before the interview. Make sure that what you are wearing is appropriate for the type of business you are I interviewing for. IF you are meeting at a law firm or big business, a suit will be a good idea. On the other hand, if you are interviewing for a construction company or something that does not require a certain wardrobe, dress for that. Plan what you will say and how you will introduce yourself. Do not seem stiff when you introduce yourself and make sure to smile. Nobody wants to hire a negative person or someone who doesn't seem happy at least.
Another key to having a good interview is to show up early. Get familiar with your surroundings and you will feel more comfortable. Sit down and go over one more time what you will say and how you will respond to possible questions. Realize that an interview can even be a somewhat awkward situation for the interviewer also, so you are not alone! Do not build up tons of pressure on yourself; realize that all you need to do is your best and things will turn out fine.
After the interview, there are also a couple of things that you should make sure you do. Be certain that you tell the interviewer that you appreciate them giving you their time and that you look forward to possibly being employed with them in the future. Also, make sure that you call back and check up on your application after a few days. Do not call back to soon, however, as this can be an annoyance for employers. Give the business anywhere from a few days to a week and then give them a call.
These are just a few things that can help you during a job interview. Just be yourself, smile, and be prepared and you will be fine.
