If you have every tried to accomplish any task in your life, you know that there is a certain degree of planning that is involved. It is not simply about jumping in head first, because without a plan you are sure to drown. Life mapping will actually help you plan out the aspects of your life and in what direction you want to go. This article will help you create a life map that will foster the growth of your success.

There are six main points to an effective life map: who you are now, where you desire to be, method of accomplishing goals, what you know, real main goals, and smaller sub-goals. Each one of these points must be separated into their respective categories. It is important to carefully plan each one of these categories in your life map.

Who you are now is more of the beginning to your life map. It is not simply about the obvious self-aspects, like your age and occupation; it is more about what values and beliefs that you have in addition to the obvious. Finding out exactly who you are and what makes you tick will help you determine what goals to set for yourself.

Where you desire to be is the step that helps you further create goals for yourself. By knowing who you are, you will be able to figure out where you want to be in a few years. It can also give you an idea of what aspects of your life that you want to change.

The method by which you choose to reach your goals will often vary depending on the goal itself. If it is professionally related, your methods will be related to your profession. If it is personally related, it will depend on the type of personal goal that you have. Will you be continuing your education?

The next aspect of your life map is what you know. You should have an idea, based on your self-examinations, of what you know through your experiences and education. It is necessary to list these attributes so that you have an idea of what useful skills that you have to apply to reaching your life goals.

Finally, you have reached the goal setting aspect of your life map. Your main goals, as well as your sub-goals, should be realistic. This means that they should be goals that you know you are capable of reaching, even if it takes some time. Your sub-goals should be smaller goals that you can consider milestones to reach, and completion of these will ultimately help you reach your larger goals.
